Event Timeline

2:00pm Please drop off cookies at the Farmhouse/Olivette development office. The Event Committee will be doing the packing.
5:00 Drop by the farmstand  to enjoy some hot chocolate, hot cider and cookies until we begin our observance of the Winter Solstice.  It is a beautiful event and we (the Event Committee) hope you will join us.
5:15pm: Winter Solstice Ceremony & Lighting Of The Spiral of Light

Winter Solstice Spiral Ceremony:
To honor this seasonal turning point, we invite you to join us for this ritual which symbolizes finding the light in the darkness together. Share a sacred community fire, candles, warm drinks, and ceremony. The ceremony takes place within a mandala of candles, where we honor the dark and the light inside each of us and the renewal of our hopes for the world. Each attendee takes an unlit candle into the center of the spiral of evergreen branches, where they light it from the central candle. Each lit candle is then brought out and placed along the spiral, expanding and spreading the light.

Cookie Donation:
We will be donating holiday cookie boxes to Haywood Street Congregation, who will be spreading our holiday cheer to local folks with food and housing insecurity. If you would like to participate in the donation, please bake and bring at least 3 dozen cookies, and deliver to the Olivette Realty office.  The events committee will be packing the cookies in decorative boxes and delivering them to HSC.

Winter Gear Drive:
This night will be the last night of the Winter Gear Drive. All lightly used donations will be donated to Haywood Street Respite after this event. You may bring winter gear to the farm stand to drop off anytime through the month.

This event takes place outdoors, so please bundle up.
