Flower Arranging Class

August 1 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

Floral Arrangement Workshop

When: Saturday 1 August at 9.30am until 11.30am

Where: Community Garden

Join members of the garden committee for an inspiring and practical workshop on creating beautiful floral arrangements for your home. You’ll learn how to thoughtfully select your materials, understand color, structure and composition then design an arrangement of your own to take home.

The first half of the workshop will focus on key principles, including:

  • We’ll take a deep dive into color, working with the cool and warm tones of flowers and foliage, how to recognize these and best use them;
  • Choosing the right vase for your arrangement and practical tips for securing stems;
  • Learn about the design elements of an arrangement along with the concepts of layering and bridging.  We’ll look at building depth, texture and movement and how foliage can be used to add color;
  • Watch a demonstration to see how all of these elements come together with practical tips for maximizing the beauty of an arrangement.

In the second half of the workshop you will get to put the theory into practice and create your own arrangement with fresh flowers pre-cut from the community garden.  Bring a medium sized vase, a small pair of snips and your creativity.

We promise this will be a highly informative and fun class.

This workshop is open to Olivette residents only and is limited to 8 people.  The cost is $40.  To reserve your spot, send your payment of $40 using one of the payment methods:
