Cut Flower Workshop

Cut Flower Workshop

Saturday, August 9

9.30 – 10.30am at the Community Garden

The Garden Committee invites you to join us for a workshop covering the many different strategies for maximizing the life of cut flowers in the vase.

Do you ever wonder why some flowers don’t seem to last long?  There’s much that can be done to prolong the longevity of flowers.

Put this theory into practice by cutting your own flowers from the community garden to take home and arrange at your leisure.  Don’t forget to bring a clean bucket (clean enough to drink from!) and snips. You’ll likely be bringing home cosmos, zinnias, straw flowers, gomphrena, celosia and many different types of foliage.

You can expect to learn:

·    The best times to cut flowers during their life cycle.  Each flower is different and we’ll cover a wide range including those that are not in season now. Timing is everything!

·    Specific methods for hydrating flowers and foliage. A couple of methods are actually quite surprising.

·    Other essential techniques for maximizing the quality of flowers both before they are in the vase and once sitting in the vase.

The workshop is limited to 6 people and costs $30.  Please sign up here:
