Olivette Spec House Earns 2017 Parade of Homes Viewer’s Choice Award

Thanks to the enthusiastic support of visitors who participated in this year’s Parade of Homes, The Broadview, built by Christopher Fox, located at Olivette Riverside Community & Farm, in Alexander, NC, was voted Visitor’s Choice at this popular event, sponsored by the Asheville Home Builders Association. A group of building industry professionals from across the Carolinas were chosen to judge the homes built by Asheville Home Builder Members, to which awards were given for Craftsmanship, Special Awards Categories, Viewer’s Choice, and more.

Reflecting the vision of this innovative new agrihood, every aspect of The Broadview’s design focuses on sustainable living, access to nature, and connections to neighbors. Overlooking the French Broad River just 15 minutes from downtown Asheville, NC, The Broadview is the first of 21 homes to be built in the Riverside Hamlet at Olivette Riverside Community.

The Broadview was the creative collaboration of builder Christopher Fox, architect Michael McDonough, developer Scott Austin, and designer Allison Smith. Fox calls this group a Dream Team. “I feel so fortunate to work with these talented peers and to be part of the launching of Olivette,” Fox explains. “The Broadview exemplifies Olivette’s commitment to building beautiful homes that have a minimal footprint on the environment. We want all the homes to be great looking, energy efficient, and healthy to live in. With the range of designs available, you won’t have to sacrifice design and craftsmanship based on price point.”

To date, more than a dozen homes in Phase One at the Riverside and Rivercrest locations are either under contract, under construction, nearly completed, in architectural review, or move-in ready.

Olivette is home to a fully operational organic vegetable, fruit, and flower farm. The 346-acre agrihood community also provides seven-acres of riverfront beach, a large private river island, miles of interior walking trails, community gardens, a pavilion and a re-circle amphitheater, Little Free Libraries, a bike-sharing program, and fiber-to-home broadband internet access.
